Josh,
The name of the ballad was "Lento - for the brass" and is the 3rd movement of Philip Sparke's "Dance Movements" for wind ensemble.

The arrangement was done by Bruce McConnell and Eric Johnson for The Cavaliers that year.

The 2002 Cavaliers also played an arrangement of this tune for retreats and concert performances this year. I'm pretty sure that version was arranged by someone on the brass staff this year... probably Richard Saucedo.

If you want to find a recordeing of the original piece, there is a CD under the Klavier record label entitles: "Wind Dances" and features the North Texas Wind Symphony.

Also, the second movement of our show that year ('98) was entitled "Molto Vivo" which is the 2nd movement of "Dance Movements".

I hope this helps. :)
