Thanks for the nice words. Those really were great memories we all share. I remember seeing the Cavaliers in 1968. We arrived early at the Park Ridge Show, as the corps was rehearsing. At the moment we got out of the car, they began turning around in a company front, from the back sideline, and roaring forward during the big push in Tiger Rag. Absolutely took my breath away. Interestingly, I wasn't a fan then. I was totally set on joining the Royal Airs after the '68 season. Obviously, that couldn't happen (since, sadly, they folded).
To think that the corps I wanted to beat (when I planned on joining the Royal Airs) wound up changing my life, immeasurably, for the better.
It makes me think of that country song - "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers."
