Cavaliers Fan of the Week: Erica Hylemon

Every Friday, The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps will be featuring a Fan of the Week for our new Fan Fridays effort! Young, old, far and wide - our incredible fans are at the center why we do what we do! This week, let's meet Erica Hylemon!

1. Please state your name, age and hometown (and Twitter handle, if you have one).

Erica Hylemon, 18, California City

2. How long have you been a Fan of The Cavaliers?

Just over 4 years.

3. What is your favorite Cavalier program and why?

Honestly, I love all the shows The Cavaliers have performed, but my favorite up to this point would have to be the 2006 program, 'Machine.' It was one of the first drum corps shows I had ever seen, and the sheer precision and execution of the performance; the detail of the visuals; and the balance was just amazing. This show truly displayed their superb mastery of musicianship and visual technique.

4. What music/show would you like to see The Cavaliers perform?

I would like to see The Cavaliers perform 'Frameworks,' again!

5. Are you making it to a drum corps show this summer? If so, which one(s)?

I went to the DCI Southwestern Championship event on July 23 in San Antonio, Texas.

6. What do The Cavaliers mean to you?

The Cavaliers are an amazing group of people who put forth their heart and soul into music, dedicating their time, effort and entire summer doing what they love.

I really think they're an inspiration to me, and a lot of people, too. I have a deep passion for music, and I think The Cavaliers really help me understand and realize why I do love music so much. In a way, the corps unites people from all over the world together through performance.

I played my trombone in the Taft Raider Marching Band all 4 years of my high school career, and through out it all, I watched The Cavaliers for motivation!
