Friday, July 13 - Lisle, Ill.

Thursday, July 12th, 2012 - 1:48 PM
By Christopher Lugo

The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps is proud to present the 29th Annual Cavalcade of Brass in Lisle, Ill., on Friday, July 13 at 7:00 PM. The Cavalcade of Brass is a must-see contest for Chicagoland fans, featuring Pioneer, Madison Scouts, Blue Knights, Santa Clara Vanguard, The Cadets and The Cavaliers all prepared to blow fans away!

"Benedictine University will again provide a great venue for this awesome annual display of drum corps," said co-Event Chair Craig Rasin. "With being so close to Chicago, this gives us an opportunity to invite all our local fans out for a night of pure entertainment."

Please Note: Racine Scouts and Teal Sound have each ended their 2012 summer tours and will NOT be appearing at the Cavalcade of Brass. Performance times have been adjusted below.

Before the contest, The Cavaliers will hold an OPEN rehearsal at Downers Grove South High School in Downers Grove, IL. This is an excellent opportunity for friends, fans, family and alumni to check out the "show before the show!"

Mike Caplan, of ABC 7 in Chicago, will be doing his weather segments live on the 4:00 PM newscast from the corps' Downers Grove South HS rehearsal. We will be promoting the Cavalcade of Brass show, and doing interviews and segments with the corps. Caplan will then travel to Benedictine University and handle the announcing duties for the evening - Thank you, Mike!

The 2012 program, "15 Minutes of Fame," features "Don Juan" by Richard Strauss; "Dead Elvis" by Michael Daugherty; "Paparazzi" by Stefani Germanotta and Rob Fusari; "Don Giovanni" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; "Vesti la Giubba" by Ruggero Leoncavallo; "Out Here on My Own" by Michael Gore; and "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg. Read more about The Cavaliers 2012 Program.

The popular family section tickets will be available the day of the contest. Adult tickets are $20, and accompanied children (12 and under) get in free. Only purchase tickets for the adults! Discounted group pricing is also available for groups of 20 or more ($5.00 off each). Please contact co-Event Chair Craig Rasin at 630-968-0419 for more information.

Midwest Color Guard Circuit (MWCGC) Reunion

If you marched winter guard in the 60s, 70s, or 80s, The Cavaliers are hosting a reunion just before Friday evening's Cavalcade of Brass show! This is also a chance to honor the Cavalier Winter Guard's 1982 WGI Championship.

The MWCGC reunion starts at 4:00 PM, and runs until showtime at 7:00 PM. The corps has arranged to have a lecture hall for showing videos and a bartender serving beer/wine at the reunion. The Cavalier Alumni Association will be supplying bottled water, but personal coolers with soda are more than welcome. Please DO NOT bring outside alcohol to the campus. For those Cavalier alums attending, a few bags of ice would also be appreciated.

We're hosting the event, but it's open to everyone who used to compete back in the early years of the Midwest Color Guard Circuit, (more) current WGI performers and winter guard enthusiasts alike!
