Fan of the Week: Kane Brantley

Friday, July 20th, 2012 - 5:28 PM
By Dan Minkel

Every Friday, The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps will be featuring a Fan of the Week for our Fan Fridays effort! Young, old, far and wide - our incredible fans are at the center why we do what we do! This week, let's meet Kane Brantley!

1. Please state your name, age and hometown (and Twitter handle, if you have one).

My name is Kane Brantley. I am 17 years old and I am from Henderson, KY - (@kanebrantley)

2. How long have you been a Fan of The Cavaliers?

I have been a fan of the Cavaliers for about 3 years, since my freshman year of high school where I was introduced to corps.

3. What is your favorite Cavalier program and why?

My favorite Cavalier program has to be 2010's "Mad World", hands down. It's a show that redefined who the Cavaliers were and showed all of their true colors. It was raw, masculine, energetic, and aggressive, pretty much everything a corps full of guys should be. It's been my favorite performance by a color guard so far and it's the show that convinced me to audition to be a Cavalier one day.

4. What music/show would you like to see The Cavaliers perform?

I'm hoping to see another show like Mad World or XtraordinarY in the future. Something dark, mysterious, and kind of strange that just exudes raw passion. Something that people may not understand at first, but it leaves people thinking, "What was that really all about?" on their way home. Musically, I would love to see some more modern pieces with obscure melodies and dissonant chords that puts listeners on edge.

5. Are you making it to a drum corps show this summer? If so, which one(s)?

Yes. I made it to DCI Louisville back in June, I will be travelling to Tour of Champions in Murfreesboro with my marching band on the 27th, and I am hoping to attend World Finals in Indy.

6. What do The Cavaliers mean to you?

The Cavaliers are everything I have ever wanted to be. They are some of my biggest role models and motivate me to practice harder and harder all the time to be better.

Though they may not know it, they have taught me about how dedication, hard work, and truly loving what you do will help you reach your goals in the long run.

Kane - Thanks for letting us get to know you just a little better during Fan Fridays!

About The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps

Founded in 1948, The Cavaliers are one of the most successful drum and bugle corps in history, winning 20 national championships, including seven Drum Corps International world championships since 1992. Each summer, 150 male brass, percussion and color guard performers aged 16-22 present a marching music show considered among the most challenging and original in the world.

The group performs at more than 30 competitions across the US and for more than 100,000 fans. Along the way, the young men not only learn about music and performing, but have a life-changing experience based on excellence, teamwork and camaraderie.

The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization sponsored by The Village of Rosemont, Illinois.
