Fan of the Week: Justin Protacio

Friday, August 10th, 2012 - 1:33 PM
By Dan Minkel

Every Friday, The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps will be featuring a Fan of the Week for our Fan Fridays effort! Young, old, far and wide - our incredible fans are at the center why we do what we do! This week, let's meet Justin Protacio!

1. Please state your name, age and hometown (and Twitter handle, if you have one).

    Justin Tyler Protacio - 21 - Manila, Philippines - justin79135

2. How long have you been a Fan of The Cavaliers?

Since I was introduced to Drum Corps in the year 2000.

3. What is your favorite Cavalier program and why?

My favorite Cavalier program must be 'Machine' from '06. Because it was a show that defined the Cavaliers for me. It was masculine, edgy, very different from other shows.

4. What music/show would you like to see The Cavaliers perform?

You guys already played it. Nature boy by Eden Ahbez. I love the movie Moulin Rouge that's where I first heard Nature boy then came XtraordinarY - it was a pleasant surprise.

5. Are you making it to a drum corps show this summer? If so, which one(s)?

Unfortunately I can't because I'm here in the Philippines.. Soon I will :)

6. What do The Cavaliers mean to you?

The Cavaliers is an amazing group of people starting from the very top of the corps down to the bus drivers and all of the volunteers who dedicated their lives to continue inspiring people around the world. I've met some cavaliers thru facebook and they really care about their fans. I also met Nina D Kiristis who is the first fan of the week. Words can't express how much I love the Cavaliers . I'm always moved every time I watch videos of their shows. It's amazing how The Cavaliers keep on surprising me and all of the fans every year with their fresh ideas and how the show is totally different from last year. It's such a great honor to be the last fan of the week this season. I will stay true and loyal to the Cavaliers, inspiration to many, unique in every way.

Justin - Thanks for letting us get to know you just a little better during Fan Fridays!

About The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps

Founded in 1948, The Cavaliers are one of the most successful drum and bugle corps in history, winning 20 national championships, including seven Drum Corps International world championships since 1992. Each summer, 150 male brass, percussion and color guard performers aged 16-22 present a marching music show considered among the most challenging and original in the world.

The group performs at more than 30 competitions across the US and for more than 100,000 fans. Along the way, the young men not only learn about music and performing, but have a life-changing experience based on excellence, teamwork and camaraderie.

The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization sponsored by The Village of Rosemont, Illinois.
