By Christopher Lugo
Every Friday, The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps will be featuring a Fan of the Week for our Fan Fridays effort! Young, old, far and wide - our incredible fans are at the center why we do what we do! This week, let's meet Anthony Gill!
1. Please state your name, age and hometown.
My name is Anthony Gill. I will be 16 on the 27th of August, and I'm am from small town Vienna, Ohio.
2. How long have you been a Fan of The Cavaliers?
I have been a fan since I picked up a pair of sticks which was in 7th grade.
The Cavaliers were a big part of me wanting to become a percussionist even though I had already started playing tuba my 4th grade year. I made the switch to become a percussionist and did not regret it! My first drum teacher I ever had showed me clips from Drum Corps International, and I fell in love with The Cavaliers.
3. What is your favorite Cavalier program and why?
My favorite Cavalier program is XtraordinarY from 2011. I loved the musicality, the formations, and all the creativity such as the planking bass drums, upside down tenors/trumpets/and drum major, the insane color guard, and I loved the tasty splitting from the front ensemble.
4. What do The Cavaliers mean to you?
The Cavaliers have greatly impacted me. I am inspired to one day start a DCI corps with a WGI group because of you guys. I dream to work my way up to becoming a snare drummer for The Cavaliers. They drive me to better myself in the world of music everyday - Thank you!
Anthony - Thanks for letting us get to know you just a little better during Fan Fridays!
