Cavaliers Remember Jesse Dungy

Friday, February 1st, 2013 - 4:22 PM
By Christopher Lugo

The Cavaliers recently learned of the passing of Jesse Dungy (76), who served as a dedicated volunteer since 2000. In addition to his love for The Cavaliers, Jesse was passionate about sports, including football and skiing, and he served as a U.S. Open tennis judge for 20 years.

"Jesse had a tremendous impact on the young men, fellow volunteers, and staff and management of the corps for over a decade," said corps director and president Adolph DeGrauwe. "He helped guide new volunteers and was always there to lend a gentle, helping hand. Jesse's spirit, tenacity, and passion are certainly going to be missed here at The Cavaliers."

In lieu of flowers, the Dungy Family has requested that donations be made to the The Cavaliers in Jesse's honor:

    The Cavaliers
    P.O. Box 501
    Rosemont, IL 60018

Checks should be made payable to "The Cavaliers" -- in the memo line, please write: Jesse Dungy Memorial Gift.

Memorial gifts are also accepted via the corps' Payment Center by selecting "Jesse Dungy Memorial Gift" as the purpose of payment.

A memorial service is being planned for early March in the Merrillville, Ind. area. We would like to express our deepest condolences, and we ask our friends, fans, family, and alumni to please keep the Dungy family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
