Cook Truck Fire Update

Friday, July 2nd, 2010 - 10:50 PM

In the early morning of June 16, we sustained a fire on our cook truck that rendered the vehicle unusable. In the days following the event, the drum corps community came to our aid in a multitude of big ways. We'd like to offer particular thanks to Northern York High School in Dillsburg, PA for the use of its kitchen and cafeteria facilities for 2 days; The Cadets and Carolina Crown for assisting us with meals in Allentown; and our loyal supporters who, as of today, have contributed over $8,000 to our Kitchen Emergency Fund.

Our thanks go to the following companies and organizations for their support:

Our brothers in The Classic Cavaliers for their generous monetary donation.

Del Monte Corporation for its generous contribution of canned goods.

Capital Regiment and Director Rick Bays for making their cook truck available to us for the summer, and helping to deliver and set up the truck.

Kitchens To Go for its rapid response investigating the cause of the fire and beginning work to restore the truck for our use.

Phantom Regiment, Madison Scouts, Santa Clara Vanguard, Spirit and the Blue Stars for their generous offers of assistance.

Drum Corps International for its continuous support.

Despite the magnitude of the event, the members experienced minimal disruption to their daily lives and are continuing their pursuit of entertaining audiences this summer with "Mad World." Work has begun to restore the cook truck, and we look forward to its return at some point in the future. We will gratefully continue to accept donations to help us recover from the financial impact of the fire. Those interested in making a tax-deductible contribution can visit www.cavaliers.org and click on "Payment Center" in the upper right corner of the page.

Thank you again to all for your continued support of The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps.
