Alan Miller currently lives in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and works as a freelance composer/arranger, instructor, adjudicator, and clinician.

Since 2002, Alan has been the front ensemble instructor for The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. In addition to teaching the pit, he has been the front ensemble arranger/composer since 2011 and the staff coordinator for the corps since 2012.

Alan began his career with the corps in 1996 as a member of the front ensemble, the returning as section leader in '97 and '98.

Alan attended and received his bachelor's degree from West Texas A & M University, where he studied percussion with Dr. Susan Tariq and conducting with Dr. Gary Garner. During his time at WT, Alan was a member of the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, serving as a percussionist and timpanist for 9 seasons.

Alan is also involved in WGI, having served as an instructor and music director for Metro Alliance from 2005-2007 and as the front ensemble arranger for Gateway Percussion in 2012. Alan will also be arranging/composing for Green Thunder Percussion in the spring of 2013.

Alan has arranged both battery and pit music for several Texas state marching band finalist bands including Coppell HS (3rd place, 2008) and Dripping Springs HS (1st place, 2009; 2nd place, 2011). Alan has also arranged for groups outside of Texas and has presented clinics throughout much of the United States, as well as in Japan.
