Jesse Saldaña

Jesse Saldaña is currently studying Music Education, Trumpet Performance, and Conducting in the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University under his trumpet professor John Rommel. Jesse maintains a private studio of around 14 students and performs regularly in the Bloomington, IN and Saint Louis, MO areas.

In his previous years studying at IU, Jesse was the principal trumpet in the Philharmonic Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, and Concert Band. He spent three years in the IU Brass Band as Flugelhorn and Solo Cornet. He played in brass quintet for four years and advanced to the Semi-Final round of the National Trumpet Competition with his trumpet quintet in 2022. He also played in the IU Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Americas Chamber Orchestra, Brass Choir, and the IU New Music Ensemble. Jesse has studied Baroque trumpet for two years with Dr. Kris Kwapis. Jesse was in the final round of the IU Brass Concerto Competition in 2021.

Jesse has toured the United States performing with world class Drum & Bugle Corps Phantom Regiment and Carolina Crown from 2018-2022. At 16 years old, he earned a contract as a trumpet soloist with Phantom Regiment, and marched his remaining years at Carolina Crown as a flugelhorn and trumpet soloist, as well as trumpet section leader in 2022.

Jesse recently won trumpet positions for the Air Force Band of Mid-America and the United States Navy Band. Jesse has accepted the position with the U.S. Navy Band, and will start his next chapter in Washington, D.C. in the Spring of 2023.
